Idle Speed Control System

Idle Air Control (IACV) System:

PURPOSE
The Idle Air Control System allows for precise control of the engine idle during cold, warm and high load conditions.

LOCATION
The Idle Air Control Valve - Auxiliary Air Control (IACV - AAC) is bolted to the front of the intake manifold..

OPERATION
Idle speed (at all temperatures and conditions) is controlled by fine adjustment of the amount of air allowed to pass through the IACV - AAC.

The valve is activated by a duty cycle signal from the ECM at a rate of 100 - 200 Hz.
