Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Control
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) And Canister Purge Control:
CIRCUIT OPERATION
The EGR/Canister control system is used to allow precise control of the EGR and Canister valves. The ECM receives signals from the crank angle sensor, air flow meter, engine temperature sensor, vehicle speed sensor and the ignition switch to determine if operation is warranted. The ECM supplies the ground circuit for the solenoid.
Vacuum Control Solenoid:
EGR/CANISTER CONTROL SOLENOID
When the ECM senses the predetermined conditions suitable for EGR and Canister operation, it de-energizes the solenoid, redirecting vacuum from the source port and vent port to the source port and valve port allowing operation.
Refer to EMISSION CONTROLS for further description of the EGR and Canister Control system.
EGR And Canister Solenoid Operation:
Refer to the chart for EGR/Canister solenoid operating conditions.
