Starting System: Service and Repair

All Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) harnesses and connectors are covered with yellow outer insulation. Do not use electrical equipment on these circuits, as accidental deployment or personal injury may result.
1. Turn ignition switch to the OFF position, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Wait at least 10 minutes for airbag system to discharge. The system will retain power for approximately 10 minutes after disconnecting the battery ground cable. It is possible for the airbag to deploy during this time.
3. After vehicle service is completed, ensure that entire SRS operates properly using Consult tool or self-diagnosis, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Testing and Inspection/Procedures.
