Cylinder Head Assembly: Testing and Inspection
Cylinder Head Distortion Measurement:
1. Measure cylinder head for flatness directions shown. Distortion measurement must be less than 0.1 mm (0.004 in).
2. If beyond the specified limit, replace it or resurface it.
NOTE: The resurfacing limit is determined by the cylinder block resurfacing in an engine.
3. Calculate resurfacing limit as follows:
- Amount of cylinder head resurfacing is "A"
- Amount of cylinder block resurfacing is "B"
- Maximum resurfacing limit is:
A + B = 0.2 mm (0.008 in)
4. After resurfacing cylinder head, check that camshaft rotates freely by hand. If resistance is felt, cylinder head must be replaced.
Nominal cylinder head height:
98.8 - 99.0 mm (3.890 - 3.898 in)
