Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Crankshaft Position Sensor Test:






1. Remove the distributor with the Crankshaft Position Sensor inside, from the engine.
2. Disconnect all of the ignition wires from the distributor cap and turn the ignition switch ON.
Note: The electrical connector should remain connected.

3. Using a volt meter, check voltage between terminal 1 and ground while rotating it slowly.
Voltage should fluctuate between 0 and 5 VDC.
4. Using a volt meter, check voltage between terminal 2 and ground while rotating it slowly.
Voltage should fluctuate between 0 and 5 VDC.
Replace the sensor if it fails the above test.

NOTE: This test may set Code 11.DTC 11 Be sure to clear the Engine Control Module (ECM) 's memory after repairs are finished.
