Trouble Diagnosis - Basic Inspections

A/T FLUID CHECK

Fluid leakage check
1. Clean area suspected of leaking. - for example, mating surface of converter housing and transmission case.
2. Start engine, apply foot brake, place selector lever in "D" position and wait a few minutes.
3. Stop engine.
4. Check for fresh leakage.

Fluid condition check

Fluid level check
- Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid. Fluid - A/T

ROAD TESTING

Description
- The purpose of this road test is to determine overall performance of automatic transaxle and analyze causes of problems.
- The road test consists of the following three parts:
1. Check before engine is started
2. Check at idle
3. Cruise test

- Before road test, familiarize yourself with all test procedures and items to check.
- Conduct tests on all items. Troubleshoot items which check out No Good after road test. Refer to "Self-diagnosis" and "Diagnostic Procedure".

- Check all items listed in Parts 1 through 3.

With CONSULT
- Using CONSULT, conduct a cruise test and record the result.
- Print the result and ensure that shifts and lock-ups take place as per "Shift Schedule."

CONSULT setting procedure

1. Turn off ignition switch.
2. Connect "CONSULT" to data link connector for CONSULT. (Data link connector for CONSULT is located in left dash side panel.)
