1. Release fuel system pressure and disarm air bag system as outlined under Technican Safety Information.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
3. Mark hood for installation reference, then remove hood.
4. Remove battery, then the engine coolant reservoir tank and brackets.
5. Remove drive belts.
6. Remove alternator, compressor and power steering pump from engine. Position components out of the way without disconnecting hoses.
7. Disconnect fuel lines, vacuum hoses, wire harness and connectors as necessary.
8. Remove front tire and wheel assemblies.
9. Remove engine undercover and splash shields.
10. Remove brake caliper assembly without disconnecting hydraulic lines, then support caliper from frame using suitable wire.
11. Disconnect tie rod ball joint from knuckle.
12. On models with manual transaxle, disconnect control rod and support rod from transaxle.
13. On models with automatic transaxle, disconnect control cable.
14. Support engine with suitable lifting device.
15. Remove center member, front exhaust tube and stabilizer bar, Fig. 1.
16. Remove radiator fan and radiator assembly.
17. Disconnect front mounting bracket.
18. Remove air duct, then disconnect or remove all engine mounts.
18. Carefully lower engine and transaxle assembly out of engine compartment.
20. Reverse procedure to install, adjusting buffer rod as shown in Fig. 2.
