Wheel Hub: Service and Repair

1. While depressing brake pedal, remove wheel bearing locknut.
2. Remove brake caliper assembly, then support caliper assembly to frame using suitable wire.
3. Remove tie rod end from knuckle, Fig. 1.
4. Separate driveshaft from knuckle by slightly tapping on end. Cover boots with a cloth to prevent damage.
5. Remove strut lower mounting bolts, Fig. 2.
6. Loosen lower ball joint nut, then separate lower ball joint from knuckle.
7. Using a suitable tool, drive out hub with inner race from knuckle.
8. Remove wheel bearing inner race, inner and outer grease seals, then the outer bearing race.
9. Reverse procedure to install, checking wheel bearing axial play as outlined under Wheel Bearing.
