Refer to Figs. 1 and 2 when removing the engine.
1. Place vehicle on level ground and block wheels.
2. Release fuel system pressure as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
3. Remove engine undercover.
4. Mark hood for installation reference, then remove hood.
5. Drain cooling system and engine oil.
6. Disconnect fuel and vacuum hoses, wire harness and connectors as necessary. Label hoses and connectors for installation reference.
7. Remove front exhaust tube, ball joints and driveshafts.
8. Remove radiator fan and radiator assembly.
9. Remove drive belts.
10. Remove alternator, compressor and power steering pump from engine. Position component out of the way without disconnecting hoses.
11. Support engine with a suitable lifting device or jack, then remove center member.
12. Carefully lower engine and transaxle out of engine compartment.
13. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install engine mount insulators as shown in Fig. 3.
b. On models with manual transaxle, adjust height of engine mounting as shown in Fig. 4.
