Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Camshaft Position Sensor Test:
1. Remove the Camshaft Position Sensor from the engine. Leave distributor harness CONNECTED.
2. Disconnect all of the ignition wires from the distributor cap and turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Using a volt meter, check voltage between terminal 1 and ground while rotating it slowly. Should fluctuate between 5.0 and 0.0 Volts DC.
4. Using a volt meter, check voltage between terminal 2 and ground while rotating it slowly. Should fluctuate between 5.0 and 0.0 Volts DC.
NOTE: This test may set Code 11. Be sure to clear the Engine Control Module's memory after repairs are finished.
Sensor Plate Inspection:
5. Visually inspect the signal plate for damage or dust.
