Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
To allow the Engine Control Module (ECM) to compensate for power steering loads by increasing idle speed.

OPERATION
The Power Steering Pressure Switch signals the ECM when the pressure increases (indicating extra engine load). The ECM then sends the idle-up signal to the Idle Air Control Valve-Auxiliary Air Control Valve.
