Compatibility
Although CONSULT can perform many manual checks, its primary purpose is to communicate directly with compatible control modules on the vehicle. For this to take place, the control modules must first be designed to accept CONSULT, then the vehicle's wiring harnesses must be designed to tie these control modules together at the Data Link Connector (DLC).
