Fig. 4 Intake Manifold Tightening Sequence:
1. Release fuel system pressure as outlined in Technician Safety Information, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove engine undercovers, right front wheel and engine side cover.
3. Drain coolant from engine and radiator.
4. Lower vehicle, then remove radiator.
5. Remove air duct to intake manifold, blow-by pipe, vacuum and fuel hoses, wires, harness, connectors and linkages.
6. Remove EGR tube and righthand ignition coils, then the intake manifold collector supports, Fig. 2.
7. Remove pressure regulator vacuum, throttle body water, idle air control valve/auxiliary air control valve, canister purge and blow-by hoses.
8. Remove intake collector retaining bolts in reverse order of collector tightening sequence, Fig. 3.
9. Remove lefthand ignition coils and all spark plugs.
10. Remove idle air adjusting (IAA) unit and heater pipe.
11. Remove injector tube assembly, then the righthand vacuum timing control (VTC) solenoid valve.
12. Remove intake manifold retaining bolts in reverse order of manifold tightening sequence, Fig. 4.
13. Reverse procedure to install, tightening all bolts to specifications.
