System Diagnostic Procedures
OPERATIONAL CHECKThe purpose of the operational check is to confirm that the system is as it should be. The systems which will be checked are the blower, mode (discharge air), intake air, temperature decrease, temperature increase, A/C switch and the memory function.
Conditions:
- Engine running and at normal operating temperature.
- Fresh VENT "OFF"
Control Panel Diagnosis:
PROCEDURE:
1. Check blower
a) The Fan Symbol should have one blade lit.
b) Then slide fan lever to 2-speed or Press Fan button one more time.
c) Continue checking Fan Symbol until all speeds are checked.
d) Leave blower on speed 4.
Control Panel Diagnosis:
2. Check discharge air.
a) Press mode button three times and DEF button
b) Confirm that discharge air comes out according to the air distribution ratios table at left.
NOTE:
Confirm that the compressor clutch is engaged (visual inspection) and intake door position is at FRE when the DEF button is pressed.
Control Panel Diagnosis:
3. Check RECIRC
a) Press RECIRC button.
RECIRC indicator should light.
b) Listen for intake door position change (you should hear blower sound change slightly).
Control Panel Diagnosis:
4. Check temperature decrease
a) Press the temperature decrease button until 18°C (65°F) is displayed.
b) Check for cold air at discharge air outlets.
Control Panel Diagnosis:
5. Check temperature increase
a) Press the temperature increase button until 32°C (85°F) is displayed.
b) Check for hot air at discharge air outlets.
Control Panel Diagnosis:
6. Check ECON mode.
a) Press ECON button.
b) Display should indicate ECON (no AUTO, no MANUAL).
Confirm that the compressor clutch is not engaged (visual inspection).
(Discharge air will depend on ambient, in-vehicle, and set temperatures).
Control Panel Diagnosis:
7. Check AUTO mode.
a) Press AUTO button.
b) Display should indicate AUTO (no ECON, no MANUAL). Confirm that the compressor clutch engages (audio or visual inspection).
Control Panel Diagnosis:
8. Check ambient display.
a) Press the AMB button.
b) Display should show the outside (ambient) temperature for approximately 5 seconds.
Control Panel Diagnosis:
9. Check memory function.
a) Press OFF button.
b) Turn the ignition off.
c) Wait 15 seconds.
d) Turn the ignition on.
e) Press the AUTO button.
f) Confirm that the set temperature remains at previous temperature.
