Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
The power steering load sensor is a pressure controlled on - off type switch mounted in the power steering high-pressure line.


PURPOSE
It signals the Engine Control Module (ECM) when the pressure increases (indicating extra engine load).

OPERATION
The ECM compensates for the load by sending a signal to the Idle Air Control-Auxiliary Air Control (IACV-ACC) Valve.
