Spark Plug: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
2. Remove the ignition coil fasteners.
3. Remove ignition coils.
4. Using compressed air, blow out the area at the base of the spark plug to remove any debris USE SAFETY GLASSES.
5. Using a 5/8" (16mm) flex socket and extension, remove the spark plugs.
INSTALLATION
1. Using a suitable tool, check and adjust the spark plug gap.
ELECTRODE GAP
0.039 - 0.043 in. (1.0 - 1.1 mm)
2. Using a suitable rubber hose or designated tool, start the spark plugs by hand (clockwise rotation).
3. Tighten and torque the spark plugs.
SPARK PLUG TORQUE
14 - 22 ft. lbs. (20 - 29 N-m / 2.0 - 3.0 kg-m)
4. Apply a small amount of di-electric compound to the inside of the ignition coil boots.
5. Reinstall the ignition coil and tighten the fasteners.
