Oil Pan: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle, then drain engine oil.
2. Remove engine lower covers, then the front exhaust tube from support.
3. Support engine at righthand slinger with suitable hoist.
4. Remove engine mounting insulator attaching bolts and nuts, then the center member assembly.

5. Remove oil pan attaching bolts in order, Fig. 16.
6. Insert a suitable tool between cylinder block and oil pan, then tap tool side with hammer and remove oil pan. Do not use a screwdriver, oil pan flange will be deformed. Be careful not to damage aluminum mating surface of cylinder block.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
a. Remove all liquid gasket from oil pan and cylinder block mating surfaces.
b. Remove dip stick before install oil pan.
c. Apply sealant to front cover gasket and rear oil seal retainer gasket.
d. Apply a continuous bead of liquid gasket to mating surface of oil pan.
e. Tighten bolts and nuts to specifications in reverse order, Fig. 16.
f. Wait at least 30 minutes before refilling engine oil.
