Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Testing Sensor Operation:

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

1. Remove distributor from engine. (Camshaft position sensor harness connector should remain connected.)

2. Turn ignition switch "ON".

3. Rotate distributor shaft slowly by hand and check voltage between terminals (3), (4) and ground.


Terminal Voltage
(3) (120°signal) Tester's pointer fluctuates between
(4) (1°signal) 5V and 0V

If NG, replace distributor assembly with camshaft position sensor.

4. Visually check signal plate for damage or dust.
