Accelerator Pedal: Description and Operation

Accelerator Pedal Assembly:

PURPOSE
Controls throttle valve opening.

OPERATION
The accelerator pedal is mounted to the firewall inside the passenger compartment. The accelerator pedal is used to provide a means to control engine speed from inside the passenger compartment. When the accelerator pedal is depressed, it pulls the inner wire of the throttle cable, which in turn opens the throttle valve.
