Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Mass Air Flow Sensor Testing:
1. Pull the rubber insulator back from the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS) connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Start and warm the engine to operating temperature and then let it idle.
4. Using a volt meter, check voltages between terminal "a" and ground under the following conditions.
IDLING: Approximately 0.7 - 1.1 VOLTS DC.
IGNITION "ON"- ENGINE STOPPED: Less than 1.0 VOLT DC.
Mass Air Flow Sensor Inspection:
If the meter fails the above test, check the "Hot Wire" for dust or damage and replace the meter if necessary.
