DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove engine as outlined under Engine.
2. Remove cylinder head and timing chain as outlined under Timing Chain.
3. Remove oil pan as outlined under Oil Pan, Engine.
4. Remove pistons with connecting rods attached.
5. Remove rear oil seal retainer.
6. Using sequence shown in Fig. 10, remove bearing beam bolts in two or three steps.

ASSEMBLY
1. Install piston on rod as shown in Fig. 14
2. Install piston rings on piston as shown, Fig. 15.
3. Install main bearing in proper position on cylinder block and main bearing caps.
4. Install crankshaft, main bearing caps and beam.
5. Using the reverse of sequence shown in Fig. 10, tighten bolts as follows:
a. Torque bolts to 24-28 ft. lbs.
b. Torque bolts to 54-61 ft. lbs.
6. Ensure crankshaft endplay is within 0.0039-0.0102 inch.
7. Install connecting rod bearing in connection rods and caps, aligning oil hole.
8. Install pistons with connecting rods into cylinder block with front mark toward front of engine, Fig. 14.
9. Install connecting rod caps and torque in two steps to 28-33 ft. lbs.
10. Install rear oil seal retainer.
