PPG Procedure

Bumper Cover Preparation PUR or PP

1. Wash the bumper cover with soap and water.

2. Wet sand thoroughly with # 400 grit paper.

3. Scuff sand with gray Scotchbrite pad and abrasive cleaner.

4. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

5. Re-clean with DX-103.

6. Tack off surface.

To apply paint to the bumper cover, follow the procedure listed below based upon bumper cover material type.

Coating PUR (Polyurethane) bumper covers

7. Apply 1 coat of DP Epoxy Primer as a sealer and allow to dry.

Mix 1 part DP to 1 part DT Reducer to 1 part DP-401 (1:1:1).

8a. NON basecoat/clearcoat colors

Apply 2 coats or to hiding of DCC CONCEPT color using DT reducer, DU Hardener and DX-369 FLEXATIVE.

8b. Basecoat/clearcoat colors

Apply basecoat color and allow to dry.

Use either DBU color reduced with DRR reducer.

or

Use DBC color reduced with DT reducer.

9. Apply 2 coats of DCU-2001 or DCU-2020 clearcoat mixed with DT reducer, DU hardener and DX-369 FLEXATIVE.

Coating PP (Polypropylene) bumper covers

7. Apply 1 coat of DPX-800 Polypropylene Primer and allow to dry.

8a. NON basecoat/clearcoat colors

Apply 2 coats or to hiding of DCC CONCEPT color using DT reducer, DU Hardener and DX-369 FLEXATIVE.

8b. Basecoat/clearcoat colors

Apply basecoat color and allow to dry.

Use either DBU color reduced with DRR reducer.

or

Use DBC color reduced with DT reducer.

9. Apply 2 coats of DCU-2001 or DCU-2020 clearcoat mixed with DT reducer, DU hardener and DX-369 FLEXATIVE.
