1995 240 SX AND MAXIMA PAINT CODES AND CLEAR COAT (NCLC)
IDENTIFICATION
APPLIED MODEL: 1995 240 SX and Maxima's
SERVICE INFORMATION:
Some 1995 Nissan 240 SX and Maxima vehicles will be produced with conventional clear coat paints; others will be finished with the New Cross Link Clear Coat (NCLC). The NCLC paint finish provides a higher level of protection against environmental damage as well as extended gloss life and scratch resistance. NCLC is designed with uniform chemical cross-linking which provides a paint film which is hard enough to resist acid rain damage and yet is elastic enough to provide resistance to scratching.
When refinishing these vehicles, it is important to identify the type of clear coat on the vehicle and refinish with appropriate paint products. There will be a sticker (Figure 1) located on the front shock tower, which will indicate if the vehicle has NCLC.
PAINT/CLEAR COAT CODES IDENTIFICATION CHART:
The paint codes and applicable clear coat type are identified in the chart.
AUTHORIZED PAINT SUPPLIERS:
Nissan is working with refinish paint vendors to develop approved materials and procedures for proper refinishing of vehicles with NCLC. To ensure proper color matching, adhesion, and long-term wear characteristics, vehicles needing paint refinish work must be refinished with products that have been tested and approved by Nissan for use with this unique new clear coat finish. At the time of this publication, the refinish paint manufacturers have provided materials and procedures which meet Nissan requirements:
If your paint system supplier does not have Nissan-approved NCLC refinish products, specific technical advice can be acquired from the local distributor of one of the approved paint suppliers. To locate a local distributor, receive specific technical advice, or if you have any difficulty obtaining refinish materials, you may contact the corporate office of the approved paint suppliers at the following telephone numbers:
