Classification:
EF95-010

Reference:
NTB95-050

Date:
April 19, 1995

APPLIED VEHICLE: 1995 240SX (S14)

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a customer complains of MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) "ON" and a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) of P1336 (Crankshaft Position Sensor [OBD] Lack of a Cog) is found stored, use the following procedure to repair the vehicle.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Check the resistance of the crankshaft position sensor. The specification is 166-204 ohms at 68°F (20°C).

2. Check all wires in the circuit diagram for the crankshaft position sensor for continuity. Also check to ensure no short circuits to ground are present.

3. If steps 1 & 2 do not resolve the incident, open the ECM end of the ECCS harness approximately 30 cm (12 inches). Find and separate the pink wire (pin 53) from the Yellow/Red wire (pin 2) and the four fuel injector wires (pins 102, 107, 104, 109). These two (2) groups of wires should be separated from each other the entire distance from the ECM connector (F1) to the shield portion of the pink wire (approximately 30 cm [12 inches]).

4. Retape the harness together keeping the two (2) groups of wires separated by at least 1 cm (0.4 inch), all the way from the ECM connector up to where the shield begins for the white wire.
