Fuel Filter: Description and Operation

Fuel Filter:

PURPOSE
Strains dirt, sediment and other contaminants out of the fuel.

OPERATION
As fuel flows from the fuel pump to the injectors, it passes through the fuel filter where debris can be trapped. The filter is not serviceable and must be replaced when dirty.

CONSTRUCTION
It is a pleated paper filter housed in a metal shell to withstand the higher fuel pressures of fuel injected vehicles.
