Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
To inform the Engine Control Module (ECM) of gear position.

OPERATION
The Neutral Position Switch sends a signal to the ECM when NEUTRAL is selected. This is to prevent the engine from dying during fuel-cut on deceleration.
