Ignition Relay: Description and Operation
PURPOSEThe Ignition Coil Relay supplies battery voltage to the primary circuit windings of six individual Ignition Coils mounted (one each) to every spark plug.

OPERATION
Battery power is supplied to relay terminal (3) via the ignition switch. When energized, the relay completes the power circuit to the ignition coils through relay contacts at pins (3) and (5). The ground circuit for energizing the relay is provided from the Engine Control Module's pin (16) to relay pin (1). Fused power to the energizing portion of the relay comes in at relay pin (2).
