OVERALL FUNCTION CHECK
Instead of performing Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) DETECTING CONDITION, the following method can be used for checking the front heated oxygen sensor function. (The "NG" of the OVERALL FUNCTION CHECK means the same as the DTC detection.)
1) Start engine and warm it up sufficiently.




2) Set voltmeter probes between Engine Control Module (ECM) terminal 50 (sensor signal) and 25 (engine ground).




3) Make sure of the following with engine speed held at 2,000 rpm constant under no load.
^ Malfunction indicator lamp goes on and off periodically more than 5 times for 10 seconds in Diagnostic Test Mode II (FRONT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR MONITOR).
^ The maximum voltage is over 0.6 volts at least one time.
^ The minimum voltage is below 0.35 volts at least one time.
