1995 MAXIMA REMOTE CONTROL PROGRAMMING AND OPERATION
APPLIED MODEL:
1995 Maxima (A32)
SERVICE INFORMATION
Nissan has introduced a remote control for the power door locks and security system on the 1995 Maxima. This Bulletin explains the operation, programming and diagnosis/repair of the remote.
REMOTE OPERATION
Door Locks
Locking: Push the Lock button on the remote. The hazard lamps will flash twice and all the doors will lock.
Unlocking: Push the Unlock button once to unlock the drivers door. Push the Unlock button again quickly and all the doors will unlock.
In addition, the interior light will stay on for 30 seconds if the room lamp switch is set in the center position.
Opening the Driver's and Passenger's windows:
Push and hold the Unlock button. If the button is released, the windows will stop.
Trunk Lid Operation
Push the Trunk lid release for 2 seconds or more, and the trunk will open.
NOTE:
The trunk will not open if the trunk lid cancel lever (located in the trunk) is in the "Cancel" or down position.
Interior Light Operation
Push the Interior light button on the remote controller and the interior light will come on for 30 seconds. The Interior light may be turned off by pushing the Interior light button, the Door lock button, or inserting the key into the ignition.
Panic Alarm Operation
Push the Lock button and hold. The alarm will stop when you press any of the buttons on the remote or wait 30 seconds. If you use the Trunk button to stop the alarm, remember that you must hold the button down longer.
IF THE REMOTE DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY:
1) Verify the incident.
2) Verify the key is not inserted into the ignition.
3) Verify the battery in the remote has a voltage value of at least 3 volts. If not, replace the battery with Sanyo CR2025 or equivalent by opening the remote lid with a suitable tool and closing it securely when done. It may be necessary to reprogram the remote so be sure to confirm it's operation after replacing the battery.
4) Based on environmental and battery conditions, the remote should work up to 50 ft away from the vehicle.
REMOTE PROGRAMMING
Each Remote controller has a discreet ID code which must be programmed into the vehicle control unit. The procedures are as follows:
1) Close and lock all the doors.
2) Insert and remove the ignition key from the ignition more than six times within 10 seconds. (The hazard warning lamp will flash twice).
3) Turn the ignition key to the "ACC" position.
4) Push the remote lock button once. The hazard lamp will flash twice to confirm programming.
5) If you need to program additional remotes (up to a total of four), unlock the drivers door using the door lock knob, then lock it again.
6) Push the lock button on the additional remote once. As before, the hazard lamps will flash twice to confirm programming.
7) Steps 5 and 6 must be repeated to program each additional remote.
