ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM

SERVICE INFORMATION

The OBD-II system will store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) whenever the following electrical components are disconnected with the ignition key "ON" or the engine running:

^ The battery cable is disconnected.

^ The intake air temperature harness is disconnected

^ The coolant temperature harness is disconnected

^ The air flow meter harness is disconnected

^ The vehicle speed sensor harness is disconnected

^ The ignition system primary harness is disconnected

^ The idle speed control (IACV-AAC) valve harness is disconnected

^ The oxygen sensor harness(es) is/are disconnected

^ The EGR temperature sensor harness is disconnected

^ The throttle sensor harness is disconnected

^ The knock sensor harness is disconnected

^ The crankshaft position sensor harness is disconnected

^ The fuel injection harness is disconnected. Any connector shown in the engine harness layout page of the EL section with an asterisk next to the connector number.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

To prevent the OBD-II system from storing incorrect DTC's while servicing, always check the stored self-diagnostic results with CONSULT, after any engine related service is performed. Erase the incorrect DTC's with CONSULT, if necessary, before returning the customer's vehicle.
