Sherwin Williams Procedures

Bumper Cover Preparation PUR or PP

1. Wash and rinse with detergent and water.

2. Wipe with AQUA-MATE Low VOC Cleaner W4-K157.

3. Scuff sand bumper covers with gray nylon scuff pad.

4. To ensure all mold release agent is removed the bumper can be heated at 1400 F for 45 minutes. Allow bumper to cool completely before cleaning.

5. Re-clean with AQUA-MATE Low VOC Cleaner W4-K157.

Coating PUR (polyurethane) bumper covers

6. Apply ULTRA-FILL II Acrylic Urethane Sealer E6-C61 or E6-H59 with MULTI-FLEX Urethane Flexible Additive V6-V299 according to label directions.

7a. Basecoat/Clearcoat Procedures

1. Apply ULTRA-7000 Basecoat Color.

2. Apply ULTRA-7000 Clearcoat over ULTRA-7000 Basecoat using MULTI-FLEX Urethane Flexible Additive V6-V299 according to label directions.

7b. NON Basecoat/Clearcoat Procedures

Apply ULTRA-ONE STAGE Acrylic Urethane with MULTI-FLEX Urethane Flexible Additive V6-V299 according to label directions.

Coating PP (polypropylene) bumper covers

6. Apply one coat of Plastic Primer UPO-7224 according to label directions.

7. Apply ULTRA-FILL II Acrylic Urethane Sealer E6-C61 or E6-H59 with MULTI-FLEX Urethane Flexible Additive V6-V299 according to label directions.

8a. Basecoat/Clearcoat Procedures

1. Apply ULTRA-7000 Basecoat Color.

2. Apply an ULTRA-7000 Clearcoat over ULTRA-7000 Basecoat using MULTI-FLEX Urethane Flexible Additive V6-V299 according to label directions.

8b. Non Basecoat/Clearcoat Procedures

Apply ULTRA ONE STAGE Acrylic Urethane with MULTI-FLEX Urethane Flexible Additive V6-V299 according to label directions.

Coating PUR (polyurethane) or PP (polypropylene) bumper covers

5. Apply 1 - 1-1/2 coats of Priomat Elastic Primer 3304. Allow to dry for 10-15 minutes.

6. Apply two 3 coats of Priomat Elastic Primer Filler 3305. The mix is 2 parts 3305 and 1 part 8581.

7. Allow to dry for 20 minutes.

8. Top coat with any Spies Hecker Top Coat.

Tips for elastic and top coat mixtures

1. Add 10% - 100% Permacron Elastic Additive 8573 to Series 257 or Permacron 2K Clear Coats depending on its flexibility.

2. Most plastic bumpers require 25% to 50% Elastic Additive 573.

3. Only add Permacron Elastic Additive 8573 to the basecoat (before adding the hardener and reducer).

4. If Permacron Elastic Additive 8573 is used, 10% Permacron MS Duraplus 8580 may be added to increase drying time.
