Trunk Lock Cylinder - Removal Procedure

1993-1996 ALTIMA TRUNK LID LOCK CYLINDER REMOVAL PROCEDURE

APPLIED VEHICLE:
1993 - 1996 Altima (U13)

SERVICE INFORMATION

To avoid having two sets of different keys when replacing the trunk lid lock cylinder it must be recoded to match the existing lock cylinders. The following procedure describes how to remove the trunk lid lock cylinder.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Open the trunk lid lock cover to its stop.





2. Gently pull up on the cover, and continue rotating it to the left, bypassing the stop.





3. Using a small flat-head screwdriver, pry up on the black plastic cover that surrounds the lock cylinder. Remove the black plastic cover.





4. From the rear of the lock (inside of trunk lid), remove the clip, and then remove the lock assembly from the outside of the trunk lid.





5. Remove the "C" clip and the unlocking arm from the rear of the lock assembly.





6. Slide the lock cylinder out from the front of the lock assembly.

7. Recode the trunk lid lock cylinder.

8. Installation is the reverse of removal.
