Operational Check

The purpose of the operational check is to confirm that the system operates as it should. The systems which will be checked are the blower, mode (discharge air), intake air, temperature decrease, temperature increase, A/C switch and the memory function.

CONDITIONS: Engine running at normal operating temperature.

PROCEDURE:





1. Check blower
a. Press FAN switch (up side) one time.
Blower should operate on low speed, and the fan symbol should have one blade lit.
b. Press FAN switch (up side) one more time.
c. Continue checking blower speed and fan symbol until all speeds have been checked.
d. Leave blower on MAX speed.





2. Check discharge air
a. Press mode switch four times and DEF button.





b. Confirm discharge air comes out according to the air distribution table above.

Note: Confirm that the compressor clutch is engaged (visual inspection) and intake door position is at FRESH when the DEF button is pressed. Intake door position is checked in the next step.





3. Check recirc
a. Press REC switch.
- RECIRC indicator should light.
b. Listen for intake door position change (you should hear blower sound change slightly).





4. Check temperature decrease
a. Press temperature decrease button until 18°C (65°F) is displayed.
b. Check for cold air at discharge air outlets.





5. Check temperature increase
a. Press the temperature increase button until 32°C (85°F) is displayed.
b. Check for hot air at discharge air outlets.





6. Check ECON mode
a. Press ECON switch.
b. Display should indicate ECON (no AUTO, no MANUAL).
- Confirm that the compressor clutch is not engaged (visual inspection).

Note: Discharge air will depend on ambient, in-vehicle and set temperatures.

c. Check for intake air at FRESH position.





7. Check AUTO mode
a. Press AUTO switch.
b. Confirm that the compressor clutch engages (audio or visual inspection).

Note: Display should indicate AUTO (no ECON, no MANUAL).

- Discharge air will depend on ambient, in-vehicle, and set temperatures.





8. Check memory function
a. Press off switch.
b. Turn the ignition off.
c. Turn the ignition on.
d. Press the AUTO switch.
e. Confirm that the set temperature remained at previous temperature.
