SERVICE INFORMATION

The RE4F04A and RE4F04V A/T are equipped with five solenoid valves as shown in Figure 1. Perform the Service Procedure whenever the solenoid valve assembly is replaced.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the thirteen, 10 mm bolts holding the control valve assembly to the transmission. Remove the control valve assembly (Figure 2).

CAUTION:
The control valve assembly must be removed prior to removing the solenoid valve assembly. If the solenoid valve assembly is replaced without removing the control valve assembly the transmission will develop unusual shifting.

2. Remove the two solenoid valve assembly retaining bolts and remove the solenoid valve assembly.

3. Install the new solenoid valve assembly into the control valve assembly.

CAUTION:
The four 0-rings (lip seals) behind the solenoid valve assembly must be reinstalled to their original locations. Out-of-position or cut lip seals will cause unusual shifting incidents.

4. Torque the two solenoid valve assembly retaining bolts to 61-78 in-lb as shown in Figure 4.

5. Reinstall the control valve assembly and torque the thirteen retaining bolts to 61-78 in-lb. Note the different bolt lengths and locations shown in Figure 2.
