R-M Procedure

Bumper Cover Preparation PUR or PP

1. Pre-baking the bumper cover at 140°F for 45 minutes will improve adhesion properties.

2. Wash the bumper cover with soap and water.

3. Dry with paper towel and lint-free cloth.

4. Wash with R-M # 902 Plastic Cleaner to remove wax, silicone and contaminates. Dry with paper towel.

5. Scuff with Scotchbrite # 7447 (red) ultrafine pad and rinse with RM # 909. Final Wipe Cleaner, dry with paper towel and use tack cloth prior to actual painting.

6. Spray 1 thin coat of R-M 864 adhesion promoter following label instructions and allow 15 to 20 minutes to dry. Do not sand R-M 864 Polypropylene Plastic Primer.

7. Spray 2 coats of Diamont Basecoat until hiding has been achieved with 5 minutes flash time between coats.

8. Allow 20 minutes flash time prior to clear coating.

9. Spray 2 to 3 coats of Diamont Clear DC88 or 89 / DH44 / 891 flex at 4:1:1 (or compliant clear for VOC regulated areas).

Allow 5 minutes flash time between coats. If baking, allow 15 minutes flash time before baking.

10. Allow to cure overnight or bake at 140° F for 30 minutes.
