Installation
Except for the following points, installation is the reverse of the disassembly procedure.1. Clean all gasket surfaces on block, timing cover, and oil pans using suitable scrapers. Remove gasket material from channels in timing cover and aluminum oil pan. Rinse well with solvent.
2. Discard old O-ring. Use only new O-ring P/N 15066-5E500 as a replacement.
3. Installing timing cover: Place RTV sealant on both sides of head gasket surface. Apply RTV to sealing surface of timing cover. Do not fill deep channel closest to O-ring seal. Maneuver cover carefully into position. STOP! With a screwdriver or other suitable tool, carefully remove any RTV smeared onto timing chain and guide area.
4. Install oil separator assembly.
5. Install aluminum and steel oil pans by following the sealing procedures and torque sequence shown on page EM-13 of the Service Manual.
6. You may need to support engine from underneath with jack when installing cross-member.
7. When installing P/S idler pulley, install only the lower bolt at first; the upper bolts installed later pass through (2) brackets and need to be carefully positioned at installation.
8. Drive belts: Install P/S-alternator belt first, then A/C drive belt and tighten.
9. Leave splash shields and wheel off until last to check for leaks. Verify that there is no oil leak after the engine has fully warmed up at idle.
10. Install all bolts using correct torque as summarized in the table as shown. Details may be found in the Service Manual.
