Oil Pump: Testing and Inspection

Refer to the illustrations, and, using a feeler gauge, straightedge and micrometer, ensure that the following clearances are as specified:
^ Body to outer gear radial clearance (1) 0.114 - 0.260 mm (0.0045 - 0.0102 inch)
^ Inner gear to outer gear tip clearance (2) below 0.18 mm (0.0071 inch)
^ Body to inner gear axial clearance (3) 0.05 - 0.09 mm (0.0020 - 0.0035 inch)
^ Body to outer gear axial clearance (4) 0.30 - 0.190 mm (0.0012 - 0.0075 inch)
^ Inner gear to brazed portion of housing clearance (5) 0.045 - 0.091 (0.0018 - 0.0036 inch)
^ If the tip clearance, (2), exceeds the limit, replace the gear set.
^ If the body to gear clearances, (1), (3), (4) and (5), exceed the limit, replace the front cover assembly.
