Oil Pump: Testing and Inspection

Using a feeler gauge, check the following clearances.
- Body to outer gear radial clearance (1) 0.110 - 0.200 mm (0.0045 - 0.0079 inch)
- Inner gear to crescent clearance (2) 0.217 - 0.327 mm (0.0085 - 0.0129 inch)
- Outer gear to crescent clearance (3) 0.21 - 0.32 mm (0.0083 - 0.0126 inch)
- Body to inner gear axial clearance (4) 0.05 - 0.09 mm (0.0020 - 0.0035 inch)
- Body to outer gear axial clearance (5) 0.05 - 0.11 mm (0.0020 - 0.0043 inch)
- Inner gear to brazed portion of housing clearance (6) 0.045 - 0.091 (0.0018 - 0.0036 inch)
- If the tip clearance, (2), exceeds the limit, replace the gear set.
- If the body to gear clearances, (1), (3), (4), (5) and (6), exceed the limit, replace the front cover assembly.
