Replacement
CAUTION:
- Before separating transaxle from engine, remove the crankshaft position sensor (OBD) from transaxle.
- Be careful not to damage sensor edge or ring gear teeth.
REMOVAL
1. Remove battery negative terminal.
2. Remove air cleaner housing.
3. Disconnect clutch control cable.
4. Disconnect back-up lamp switch, neutral position switch, vehicle speed sensor and ground harness connectors.
5. Remove starter motor from transaxle.
6. Remove vehicle speed sensor from transaxle.
7. Remove crankshaft position sensor (OBD) from transaxle.
- Be careful not to damage sensor tip.
8. Remove shift control rod from transaxle.
9. Drain gear oil from transaxle.
10. Remove drive shafts from transaxle.
11. Support the transaxle with a jack.
12. Remove LH and rear mounts.
13. Remove bolts securing transaxle.
14. Lower transaxle.
INSTALLATION
- Tighten starter motor to transaxle. Torque to 41 - 52 Nm (30 - 38 ft. lbs.)
- Tighten LH and rear mounts to the specified torque. Refer to Engine.
- Install transaxle and any part removed. Ensure that proper tightening is as specified.
Tighten bolts securing transaxle as shown.
Bolt No. 1: 30 - 40 Nm (22 - 30 ft. lbs.)
Bolt No. 2: 30 - 40 Nm (22 - 30 ft. lbs.)
Bolt No. 3: 30 - 40 Nm (22 - 30 ft. lbs.)
Bolt No. 4: 16 - 21 Nm (12 - 15 ft. lbs.)
Front gusset to engine: 30 - 40 Nm (22 - 30 ft. lbs.)
Rear gusset to engine: 16 - 21 Nm (12 - 15 ft. lbs.)
Bolt Length:
No. 1: 70 mm (2.76 inch)
No. 2: 85 mm (3.35 inch)
No. 3: 30 mm (1.18 inch)
No. 4: 25 mm (0.98 inch)
Front gusset to engine: 20 mm (0.79 inch)
Rear gusset to engine: 16 mm (0.63 inch)
- Check clutch cable adjustment.
