MIL"ON" WITH EVAP EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM DTC(S) STORED DUE TO INSECT NEST(S) IN EVAP SYSTEM

SERVICE INFORMATION
If any of the applied vehicles exhibit a MIL "ON" with one or more of the below DTCs stored, the cause may be insect nest(s) in the evaporative (EVAP) emission control system.

To help prevent insects from entering the EVAP emission control system, a new inlet elbow connector is now available. The new elbow has an integral mesh (screen) that covers the opening of the elbow (see Figure 1).
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Inspect all EVAP system hoses and components between the inlet elbow connector and the EVAP canister for insect nest(s) (see Figure 2).
A) If an insect nest(s) is found inside any of the EVAP components, remove the nest(s) and replace the existing inlet elbow connector with a new elbow connector (see Figure 2) and proceed with step 2.
NOTE:
When working on 1996-98 240SX models, the new elbow connector replaces the existing inlet breather valve (see Figure 2).
B) If an insect nest is not found, proceed with step 2.
2. Use the appropriate section of the service manual to diagnose and repair the stored DTC(s).
