1998 ALTIMA LUMBAR SUPPORT SQUEAK NOISE

APPLIED VEHICLE:
1998 Altima (L30) GLE/SE with Leather Interior

SERVICE INFORMATION

If adjusting or leaning against the lumbar support on the driver's side of an applied 1998 Altima causes the lower edge of the seat back to squeak, the metal lumbar support plate may be rubbing against the rod on which it is mounted.

Use this bulletin to resolve the incident.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the seat back cover. (If the plastic mounting clips are damaged during removal, refer to the Parts Information table below to replace them).





2. Insert nylon tie wraps between the support plate and the rod, one on each side of the support plate bracket (refer to Figure 1).

3. Secure the ties by threading one end through a slip knot in the other end and pulling the resulting loop taught. Trim off the slack if necessary.

4. Re-assemble the seat back.
