APPLIED VEHICLE:
All 1998 Altima (L30)

SERVICE INFORMATION

If you need to remove the instrument cluster lid from a 1998 Altima for any reason, use the following procedure to complete the removal without causing damage to the cluster lid or the dash panel.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Use a non-marring plastic tool (Kent-Moore PN: 39910 or equivalent) to release the switch panel by prying out at the top (see Figure 1).

2. Unplug connections and lay the switch panel aside in a safe place (see Figure 2).

3. Remove the two screws at the top underside of the instrument panel cluster lid.

4. Release the left side clip of the cluster lid by pushing upward on the clip while pulling out on the cluster lid (see Figure 3).

5. Release the right side clips by using a non-marring plastic tool to push up on the clips at the center A/C vents (see Figure 4).

6. Tilt the instrument cluster lid outward (toward you) at the top. Disconnect connectors, then move the lid to the right until it clears the steering wheel (see Figure 5).
