1998 ALTIMA DRIP RAIL WEATHERSTRIP VISIBLE AT REAR DOOR

APPLIED VEHICLE:
All 1998 Altima (L30)

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 1998 Altima has a drip rail weatherstrip visible behind the rear door window when the door is closed, use the procedure in this bulletin to re-fit the weatherstrip.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Pull the drip rail weatherstrip loose from the upper corner of the windshield to the rear fender.

2. Inspect the drip rail flange. If deformed (bent), carefully use a rubber mallet to straighten (see Figure 2).

3. Without stretching or pulling lengthwise, reinstall the weatherstrip. Start at the front and work slowly to the rear.

4. Check the fit. The weatherstrip should not be visible at the door gap with the door closed.

5. If the weatherstrip is still too long, trim as necessary and glue the last 10 mm of the tip together as shown using cyanoacrylate (crazy glue) gel.

NOTE:
Do not glue the weatherstrip to the vehicle.

6. Reinstall and check.
