Rear Defogger: Description and Operation

REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER - SYSTEM DESCRIPTION





Function
^ The above time control function is controlled by BCM.

Rear Window Defogger Timer
The rear window defogger system is controlled by the BCM. Power is supplied at all times
^ through 20 A fuse [No. (38),located in the fuse block (J/B)]
^ to the rear window defogger relay terminal (3), and
^ through 20 A fuse [No. (39),located in the fuse block (J/B)]
^ to the rear window defogger relay terminal (6).
With the ignition switch in the ON or START position, power is supplied
^ through 7.5 A fuse [No. (12), located in the fuse block (J/B)]
^ to the rear window defogger relay terminal (1) and,
^ to BCM terminal (27).
When the rear window defogger switch is ON, ground is supplied
^ through terminal (1) of the rear window defogger switch
^ to BCM terminal (28).
Terminal (7) of the BCM then supplies ground to the rear window defogger relay terminal (2).
With power and ground supplied, the rear window defogger relay is energized to operate rear window defogger for about 15 minutes.
