SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 1997-98 Sentra/200SX has a MIL "ON" and diagnostic trouble code P0300 (multi-cylinder misfire) stored and; (1) the customer has not experienced engine roughness and (2) the technician cannot determine the cause of the incident, the cause may be the engine control module (ECM). There is a new ECM available to address this incident if it occurs.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Perform the diagnosis for P0300. Refer to the 1997 Sentra/200SX Service Manual (page EC-405) or the 1998 Sentra/200SX Service Manual (page EC-235).





2. Check the ECM part number with CONSULT.

ECM Part Numbers for 1997 MY Vehicles: 23710-3M200 through 23710-3M203, 23710-3M210 through 23710-3M213, 23710-3M300 through 23710-3M303, and 23710-3M310 through 23710-3M313.

ECM Part Numbers for 1998 MY Vehicles: 23710-4M000, 23710-4M010, and 23710-4M100.

3. If the cause of the incident is not determined and if the vehicle is equipped with one of the ECMs listed above, replace the ECM with a new part as listed in the "Parts Information" table.
