1998-99 ALTIMA CENTER CONSOLE LID LATCH BROKEN

SERVICE INFORMATION

If the center console lid on a 1998-99 Altima will not latch, the cause may be a broken lid latch. The console lid latch can now be ordered separately. Use the service procedure listed below to replace the lid latch if it is broken.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Confirm the condition of the console lid latch.

A. If the console lid latch is not broken this bulletin does not apply. Look for other causes of the incident.

B. If the console lid latch is broken proceed with step 2.

2. Remove the latch from the center console lid as follows:





A. Remove two top screws and move the inner panel away from the center console lid (see Figure 1).

B. Lift the latch out of the inner panel (see Figure 1).

3. Install the new latch, re-position the inner panel and re-install the screws.
