SERVICE INFORMATION
If it is necessary to install a new ECM or NATS unit in a 2000 MY Altima that was built on or after July 12, 2000 and equipped with California emissions certification and an A/T, refer to the information listed below.
All 2000 MY Altima vehicles with California emissions certification and A/T, built on or after July 12, 2000, are equipped with 2001 ECM and NATS units.
The 2001 ECM and NATS control unit part numbers are:
^ ECM P/N: 23710-9E810 or latest update
^ NATS Control Unit P/N: 28590-C9917
The 2001 ECM contains an internal Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor so there is no longer a separate MAP sensor. The 2001 NATS control unit has changed from version 2.0 to version 5.0.
As a result of these changes, earlier (2000) ECM and NATS (version 2.0) control units cannot be installed on one of these vehicles, as a no-start condition will occur.
NOTE:
When servicing the ECM or NATS system on these vehicles, refer to the 2001 Service Manual.
The list shown provides VINs for all 2000 MY Altima vehicles with California emission certification and A/T. Only these vehicles are equipped with 2001 ECM and NATS units.
For your convenience, the VINs in the list are in sequential order with regard to the last six digits of the VIN. Compare the last six digits of the vehicle's VIN with the last six digits of the VINs in the list.
