Service Procedure
1. Remove the rear lower seat cushion (see Figure 1).
2. Remove the rear upper seat back side bolsters (see Figure 1).
3. Remove the three rear shoulder belt's lower mounting bolts.
4. Remove the C-pillar trim using a suitable tool. Refer to Figure 2 for clip location and style.
CAUTION:
There are electrical components and harnesses behind the C-pillar trim. Make sure these are not damaged during the trim removal process.
CAUTION:
When inserting a tool between the trim piece and the C-pillar, be careful so that the weatherstrip is not damaged.
5. Remove the four rear seat back trim fasteners, then the four 1/4 turn fasteners for the leading edge of the rear parcel shelf (see Figure 3).
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the rear seat back trim.
6. Remove the BOSE speaker grill (if applicable). Remove the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL). Refer to Figure 4 for details.
7. Unclip the rear parcel shelf shoulder belt trim pieces from the parcel shelf. Lift and remove the rear parcel shelf, feeding the shoulder belts and trim pieces through the holes.
8. Install the correct new rear parcel shelf from the Parts Information table in this bulletin. When doing so, feed the shoulder belts and belt trim through the appropriate holes in the panel.
CAUTION:
Be sure the shoulder belts are not twisted.
9. Reinstall the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL). Reinstall the BOSE speaker grill (if applicable). Clip the shoulder belt trim into place in the rear parcel shelf.
10. Install the rear parcel shelf leading edge fasteners, followed by the rear seat back trim fasteners.
11. Install the three new child seat anchor bolt kits. Each kit contains one anchor bolt, anchor plate, spacer and fiber washer (see Figure 5). The one with the long bolt (P/N 88894-2Y000) goes in the center position, the two with the shorter bolts (P/N 88894-2Y010) go to the outside. Torque the bolts to 19 - 24 in-lb or 0.21-0.28 kg-m.
12. Install the appropriate child seat anchor trim pieces from the Parts Information section of this bulletin.
13. Reinstall the C-pillar trim.
14. Install the left and right side bolsters for the rear seat.
CAUTION:
Make sure the upper tab of the side bolster is correctly inserted into the appropriate rear parcel shelf/body sheet metal slot.
15. Reinstall the rear seat shoulder belt lower mounting belt bolts. Torque the bolts to 32 - 40 ft-lb or 4.4 - 5.6 kg-m.
CAUTION:
Be sure the shoulder belts are not twisted.
16. Reinstall the rear lower seat cushion.
CAUTION:
Make sure the rear seat belts are in their proper positions once the seat cushion is in place.
