SERVICE INFORMATION
Some vehicles may experience a MIL "On" condition after vehicle service if non-approved lubricants are used during vacuum hose installation.
Use this bulletin to ensure that only a Nissan approved lubricant is being applied during vacuum hose installation and that the correct application procedure is followed.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
If vacuum hose installation is difficult, apply Texaco Canopus 13 Mineral Oil (see Parts Information table) as follows:
1. Dip a clean coffee stirrer or comparable applicator into the can of mineral oil.
NOTE:
If the applicator used is hollow, ensure that oil does not get trapped inside by placing your thumb over one end before dipping the other end in the oil.
2. Gently insert the coated stirrer slightly inside the tip of the vacuum hose (see Figure 1).
NOTE
Do not exceed ... inch (5 mm) from the edge of the hose. Excessive oil can also result in a MIL '0n" incident.
CAUTION:
Apply mineral oil to vacuum hose only; do not get oil on the component.
PARTS INFORMATION
A bottle of the Texaco Canopus Mineral Oil has already been sent to each dealer. If necessary, Order additional bottles from Kem Krest using the part number as shown.
CLAIMS INFORMATION
Do not submit a claim for this oil. The purchase of Nissan approved mineral oil is the responsibility of the dealer and is not covered by warranty.
