Door Locks (Power) - Inadvertently Lock

SERVICE INFORMATION

If an applied vehicle has the following symptoms during wet weather or when slamming the door shut:

^ Intermittently all doors lock by themselves.

This incident, if it occurs, may be very difficult to duplicate. However, if it occurs it may be repaired by:

^ Replacing the door lock switch assembly and LH door harness, and

^ Sealing the rubber boot of the LH door harness connector to the A-pillar with RTV silicone sealant.

^ Adding dielectric grease to the electrical contacts in the door lock cylinder switch connector and door harness connector at the A pillar.

Follow the Service Procedure in this bulletin to repair the incident, it it should occur.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the LH front door finisher. Refer to the BT section of the ESM.





2. Inspect the brown connector for the door lock switch harness (D1, D9) for any evidence of moisture (water condensation, droplets) and/or corrosion (see Figure 1).

3. If moisture or/and corrosion is found,

^ Proceed to step 6 and replace the door lock switch assembly and the LH door harness.

4. If moisture or/and corrosion is not found, this bulletin does not cover the incident.

^ Refer to the ESM to further diagnose and repair the incident.

5. Prepare the LH door harness connector (D1) to the (M4) SMJ as follows:

NOTE:
Refer to the Parts Information of this bulletin for the part numbers of replacement parts.

A. Remove the door check link.

B. Disconnect the LH door harness connector (D1).





C. Clean the area of the A-Pillar where the LH door harness connector rubber boot (D1) makes contact. Ensure the area is free of dust or oil film (see Figure 2).

D. Apply dielectric grease to the electrical contacts of the new wire harness and main connector at the A-pillar (see Figure 3).





E. Apply a 2 mm bead of RTV silicone sealant to the contact surface of the LH door harness connector rubber boot (see Figure 3).

6. Connect the LH door harness connector (D1) onto the M4 SMJ connector.

7. Tighten the bolt that fastens the harness connector rubber boot to 43 inch-lbs. using a 10 mm wrench.

8. Wipe away any silicone sealant that becomes visible on the A-pillar.

9. Apply dielectric grease to the brown connector for the new door lock switch harness (see Figure 1).

10. Connect the door wire harness to the remaining electrical components within the door.

11. Re-attach the door check link. Tighten the bolt to 43 inch-lbs.

12. Re-install the LH door finisher.

13. Verify the incident has been resolved.
